Tengku Muhammad Taufik is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Finance & Accounting from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
He was appointed President and Group CEO of PETRONAS in July 2020, responsible for the formulation, direction and steering of key strategies of the Fortune Global 500 organisation. He currently holds Board positions in PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS International Corporation Ltd.
In addition to his responsibilities in PETRONAS as well as board stewardship in the above companies, he is also the Chairman of the Gentari Board of Directors and the National Trust Fund and the Malaysia-United Arab Emirates Business Council (MUBC). He is a Council Member of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), a member of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) and the Merdeka Award Board of Trustees.
Tengku Muhammad Taufik is Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Oil & Gas Governors Community, and the WEF ASEAN Leaders for Just Energy Transition Community. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).
In 2023, he was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) which carries the title "Tan Sri," in recognition of his services to Malaysia.
