Dr. Kang is currently the Immediate Past President of the International Gas Union (IGU), having served as President during the 2018–2022 term. Dr. Kang served as Co-Chair alongside the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for the Korea’s National Committee on the Overseas Resources Development. He also served as an advisor to the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS). Prior to his IGU presidency, Dr. Kang had served as a professor in the Department of Energy Systems Engineering, College of Engineering, at Seoul National University since 1986.
